A New Library in Barboursville  Barboursville Giving Tree

Our new Barbourville Public Library opened it's doors May 12, 2022. This new larger library will serve the town of Barboursville with an up-to-date facility for the community to have a place to read, learn, relax and connect.

The new Barboursville Library is located 749 Central Avenue. Its location is in a more convenient spot closer to the elementary school. The cost of construction of the new Barboursville Library is approximately 5.7 million dollars. Barboursville Library was awarded with a four hundred thousand dollar grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities that requires a triple match.

Why Did We Need a New Library?

Opening in 1967 the “Blue Library” has been a community staple in the Village of Barboursville. The current library is too small for the ever growing Village of Barboursville. Barboursville Library is our busiest and oldest branch of the seven branches in Cabell County. The programs provided by the library are at times overcrowded due to the small space in the current building. In addition to the current library not having enough space, it also is in dire need of multiple repairs due to severe water damage. The Village of Barboursville deserves an inviting hub for lifelong learning, activities and to encourage community collaboration.
