Buffalo Creek Memorial Library, the first "instant" library in the nation was dedicated on February 26, 1973 on the first year anniversary of the disaster that destroyed 16 communities, 17 miles of the narrow valley and took 125 lives.  The original structure which, was one carrousel,  has since expanded to a facility that now has a large children's room and houses a collection of over 25,000 written, audio and video items.  Our mission is to provide you with the most comprehensive and up-to-date methods of discovery.  Access to databases is available through wvinfodepot.org.  Your library card allows you to download ebooks from WVREADS.  The world wide web can be accessed on the eight public computers or by using our wireless internet access with your own laptop.  Surf the net for information, keep up with the family through social media or do some shopping all at the library.  We look forward to showing you the world!

Preschool Story Hour is held on Tuesdays, Noon to 1 P.M. for children who have not yet attended school.  A six week summer reading program is held on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. from mid June until the end of July.  These programs offer exciting stories, fun crafts, educational speakers and wholesome snacks.

The library sponsors the annual "Man, WV on the Move" walk in April of each year and "Kids on the Move" Walk in May  This walk encourages walking as a healthy activity.  The library also hosts diabetes education classes along with nutrition and shopping classes for adults.

In October the library hosts the annual "Breast Cancer Awareness" walk to raise money for breast and cervical cancer research and prevention for women in West Virginia.

The Man Lions Club meets at the library on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Fax and copy services are available for a nominal fee.
