Summary
Summary
The recent U.S. surgeon general's report on mental health points out that half of all Americans will suffer from some form of mental illness during their lifetime--and that such illnesses can be effectively treated. This volume provides an up-to-date examination of the medications--many of them new--that have helped so many people who suffer from the disease known as depression.

Horn Book Review
Five short chapters provide definitions, explain some motives for seeking treatment, and describe different treatments and outcomes. Case histories and posed black-and-white and color photographs add some interest, but overall the volumes are superficial and somewhat preachy. [cf2]Antidepressants[cf1] includes some advice for supporting sufferers. Both books include a list of resources. Bib., glos., ind. (c) Copyright 2010.
