In the summer of 2013, eight-year-old Hannah wrote "Life of a Dragonfly," a poem with repeated parallel stanzas that used the stages of a dragonfly's life as a mirror for her own physical and cognitive development. Among its wisdom was: "Hope rises, and I begin to reveal my concealed wings. I begin to understand language and what I am meant to do."
Taylor has helped her daughter find her wings; in Dragonfly , she gives other parents the tools to do the same.

Jennifer O'Toole is the author of ASA's 2014 Outstanding Literary Work and bestselling Asperkids series. One of Tony Attwood's "Top Aspie Mentors" and winner of the Temple Grandin Award for Global Contributions, Jennifer has advised the President's Council on Disabilities and keynotes internationally. She was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 2010.

*Starred Review* When Taylor's daughter, Hannah, was 18 months old, she was diagnosed with autism. Although both the author and her husband were educators, neither had been alarmed when Hannah missed some developmental markers. They reasoned that their daughter would soon catch up. After the diagnosis, Taylor was determined to find out about the condition and help her daughter as a child with autism (the author's preferred term) live as fully as possible. Using the metaphor of the late-developing dragonfly, the author shares Hannah's emergence into the larger world. Taylor worked with therapists, counselors, and support groups to make a plan for Hannah, relentlessly reinforcing exercises and developing coping strategies. As she shares her findings in this vital account, she uses flashbacks to recall telling events in Hannah's life, taps the stories of a round table of other women with children with autism, and offers practical, doable tips. She notes the effects autism has on other family members and the stresses it can place on relationships, including marriages.
